Geobiology and paleontology research in the Department of Earth- and Environmental Sciences at the LMU covers topics that cross palaeobiology, geobiology, palaeoecology, palaeoclimate, taxonomy, phylogeny and systematics from the Precambrian through to the Holocene. State-of-the-art methods that range from stable isotope analyses and high-resolution microscopy to molecular biology and genomics. These methods are employed to address questions of broad significance in evolution, geomicrobiology, biogeochemistry, earth history, and cryosphere ecology.
